MEET ME

Rina C. Andrews

Food has been my passion for as long as I can remember....

I grew up in a family that loves food. I remember my grandmother used to stuff our plates even when we said we could not longer eat anything.  It was unheard of for her to refuse food given to you on your plate! As a child, I used to watch her whip up simple yet delicious dishes without any cookbook.  She made dishes that I can replicate.  My grandmother lives inside me through the dishes I replicated.  I never formally studied culinary arts but what I have is the "ouido" for food.

DEFINITION:  OUIDO (pronounced as "widow") is derived from the Portugese word OUVIR which means to hear or to listen. Ouido refers to the ability to play a song on any musical instrument after listening to it a couple of times and without reading the notes.

I don't use recipe books when I cook. I taste the food then can replicate and more often improve on it.  I think of what I want to create and taste it with my mind - this is how I come up with my dishes.  My mom, my friends have been my taste testers all these years I've been cooking. I make Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Malaysian, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Filipino and Chinese dishes. And now, savory puff pastries which I am offering to you.  They came as a thought, then I experimented till I got the taste I had in my head.  Delicate and flaky puff pastries. I have 5 variants. Unlike commercial pies, I do not scrimp on quality and ingredients. Personally, I don't like biting into nothing so I stuffed these for everyone's enjoyment.  So, go ahead try any variant, try all.  Whichever you choose, I can personally assure that each piece has a lot of love put into it. Food tastes best when the love for it is present.
